Video conferencing used to be the stuff of science fiction. Now we use it almost daily in our homes, schools, and offices. But video conferencing applications can do a whole lot more than fill your day with meetings that could have been emails.
The video above shows just one example of how a student Zoom meeting can be elevated to a new level by creating a podcast episode.
Zoom can record meetings without a time limit and save those files locally or on the web. This makes publishing student work easy within a classroom or school setting. The videos can easily be posted to Youtube and reach a wider audience with a few extra clicks.
Podcasting has exploded in popularity in the United States in the last few years, and definitely throughout the coronavirus pandemic of 2020-2021. Assigning students to make a podcast with Zoom offers them fun, authentic, educational experience with broad applications.
Go for it.
